WARRI-As the race towards the 2019 elections heats up a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, House of Assembly aspirant, Dr. Jeffery Wilkey has promised to eradicate poverty from the lives of the riverine people of Warri North Council area Delta State.
Dr. Wilkey who stated that restiveness in the riverine areas is a product of poverty amongst the youths also said one of his principal agenda is to ensure women empowerment and participation in politics, saying that he has the experience and capability to raise the standard of living of the rural people.
The PDP chieftain and business man made these remarks when he paid a consultation visit to the Executives, elders, leadership and party faithful at the PDP temporary Secretariat in Koko, Headquarters of Warri North Local Government Council just as he declared that with his pedigree in the field, he is willing to tackle the challenges facing the people of Warri North constituency and made some financial contribution towards the building of a permanent and befitting PDP Secretariat in Koko.
Dr. Jeffery Wilkey told the mammoth gathering that it is the high regard and respect he has for the leadership of the PDP, that he came first to inform them of his intention to contest the Warri North Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly come 2019 before embarking on further consultation with other relevant stakeholders and therefore solicited their support, understanding and prayers.
Welcoming the Team Jeffery 2019 entourage to the party Secretariat, the Chairman, Hon. Isaac Wilkey disclosed that he was the first House of Assembly aspirant of the lots in Warri North council to have paid a consultation visit to the Exco, saying that they are committed to providing a level playing field to all contestants in the race.
Hon. Isaac Wilkey stated that it is not business as usual this time around when successful to various positions gets to the top through the party structure and disappear into thin air thereafter and admonished the aspirant to go about his consultation with modicum and decorum as the contest is between family members in Warri North.
While praying that God Almighty should grant Dr. Jeffery his hearts’ desire, he disclosed that the PDP in the area are faced with some daunting challenges that requires the assistance of all to surmount and task him to make his moderate contribution towards addressing some of the challenges which include but not limited to building a permanent party secretariat.
